In 2015 when Bodymovin was introduced into After Effects I quickly jumped right in with ideas on how to improve the product at Eezy along with the CEO, Shawn Rubel. I created animations for the 404 pages across all sites and recreated the Vecteezy Editor with shape layers in order to animate a quick walkthrough in SVG.
Do not fear failure but rather fear not trying
It took the creator of Bodymovin, Hernan Torissi, years to complete his plugin for After Effects and he shared it with the world for free. He’s a pioneer that created it out of sheer necessity after Flash accepted its death note.
A fun fact that very few people know, that I learned from Hernan himself, who is also the collaborator of Lottie at Airbnb, is that he dubbed it Bodymovin because the animation or “movin” data lives within the ‘body’ of the webpage HTML and also because it is a Beastie Boys song.

My strokes impressed fellow colleague and the creator of Bodymovin/collaborator of Lottie, Hernan Torrisi. He wasn’t sure his plugin could handle it.

I recreated the Vecteezy Editor out of shape layers to create an animated SVG for the site and it blew some minds.
